Saving the Constitution
Gee this time I guess rather than stepping in to save the Constitution when its hanging by a thread, the Elder of Zion decided to shred the Constitution until it was hanging by a thread. Oh well he was just following the first law of heaven: Obedience to Rummy and Dick. No, wait, he was in the U.S. Government at the time, not heaven. (Maybe as a BYU grad he thought the U.S. government was heaven.) Well the important thing really is the glory he's brought his family, his country and his church. He never forgot the New Testament story about Jesus waterboarding the Samaritan woman. Makes you proud to be an American.

Well said, Anonymous

For those of you (predominantly Mormon) who know the Mormon prophecy of, "The Doctrine of the Constitution Hanging by a Thread", you are aware that there are many versions of this prophecy. I'm assuming Mr. Bybee took to heart former Mormon President Harold B. Lee’s 1952 interpretation of this iconic prophecy, which is particularly disturbing:

Joseph Smith...[said] the time would come when the Constitution would hang as by a thread and at that time when it was thus in jeopardy, the elders of this Church would step forth and save it from destruction. Why the elders of this Church? “We alone know by revelation as to how the Constitution came into being, and we, alone, know by revelation the destiny of this nation” – Harold B. Lee, LDS apostle and future Mormon President. Conference Report, October 1952.

It would seem that Mr. Bybee knew by revelation how the Constitution came into being, as well as the destiny of this nation. However, I can't help thinking about the Founding Fathers, none of whom were Mormon, who managed to actually write the Constitution.
