Two Mormon FLDS leaders from Bountiful, B.C. Canada, are scheduled to appear in court on polygamy charges in British Columbia. Bountiful, BC, Canada is one of Colorado City, Arizona, USA's sister cities, which until recently were both controlled by Warren Jeffs and members of his inner-circle from Colorado City, Arizona. Colorado City became a polygamous stronghold during the late 1800's after polygamous Mormons began fleeing Utah during the "1890 Manifesto", which banned polygamy outright in Utah. In 2004, polygamists associated with Bountiful, British Columbia Canada and Colorado City, Arizona began migrating their members to their "Yearn for Zion" polygamous stronghold in Texas, which was utlimately raided by authorities in 2008.
During the late 1800's, the United States Government began putting pressure on the Mormon Church to end polygamy once and for all. And, in 1884 just before President Wilford Woodruff issued his "1890 Manifesto" banning polygamy outright in the Utah Territory, his predecessor, President John Taylor, prophecied that polygamy would continue in places, "protected and hidden by God". Consequently, just prior to the "1890 Manifesto", polygamous Mormons from Utah began fleeing to Mexico, Canada and other places that they thought would be "protected and hidden by God". Today, these places include Bountiful in British Columbia, Colorado City in Arizona, Colonia Morelos, Colonia Juarez, Colonia Lebaron and Colonia Dublan in Mexico, the "Yearn for Zion Ranch" in Texas and numerous other locations in the southwest United States that I could name, but won't.
