On August 30, 1998, Don McAreavy wrote to the LDS Family History Library to inquire if Adolf Hitler and Eva Braun had ever been baptized as Mormons (baptism for the dead). On September 8, 1998, The Church responded on official Church letterhead and stated that they had baptized Hitler’s father, and said nothing about Hitler or Braun. Then, in October of 1998, McAreavy obtained copies of the temple ordinances for Hitler and Braun from Philip Roberts of the North America Mission Board of the Southern Baptist Convention. These documents showed that Hitler had been “baptized” and “endowed” on December 10, 1993, and “sealed” to his parents on March 12, 1994 in the London, England Temple, and was later “sealed” to Eva Braun on June 14, 1994 at the Jordan River Temple in Utah.

After obtaining this proof, on October 17, 1998, McAreavy sent a second letter to the LDS Family History Library and again inquired if Adolf Hitler and Eva Braun had ever been baptized as Mormons (no response). He inquired again on November 17, 1998, but this time he sent registered letters to the LDS Family History Library. This time, the Church did respond to McAveary’s November letter and stated that he would soon hear from the Director of the LDS Family History Library. But, after hearing nothing, McAreavy wrote another letter on December 28, 1998 this time requesting the name and address of the director, so he could contact him directly.

After once again receiving no reply, McAreavy wrote directly to the Department Director of the Photoduplicating Department of the LDS Family History Library to inquire if Hitler and Braun had ever been “baptized”. Additionally, he included the documents that were provided by Philip Roberts, which proved that Temple ceremonies for Hitler and Braun had indeed taken place. This time, an impersonal response was sent back, which didn’t correspond with the answer the Church had provided previously in the first letter of response. Further, the Church clearly avoided taking any responsibility for not supplying the information that McAreavy requested in his initial letter.

Oddly, during the entire time that McAreavy was writing the Church to obtain the information on Hitler and Braun, they would have had access to multiple files that documented the multiple temple rituals that had been performed for Hitler and Braun in the Mormon Temple. Is it possible that this could have been an innocent oversight on the part of the Mormon Church, or was the Church deliberately trying to quash information that once again exposed the Mormon Church’s buffoonery?

Well, I think everyone already knows the answer to that one, and I thank God every day that God has restored "the only true Church" on the planet today.
